Illuminated by Orion’s club raised at a quarter moon, I walk through interstices of shadows cast by wintry trees On a warming mid-February night. Beagle at my side, we talk of things to come And wonder... The moon’s orbit is outpacing the hunter’s pursuit As Sirius barks at his heel. The expanding universe is more than I can know, But God’s love is what I feel. Is there a place where time and distance become one? In Eden’s Garden I thought I once stood Only to learn that with time running Man’s future might not be as good. The garden wilts and the gate is rusty, The fruit too sweet and the vegetables musty. But that was long ago when time stood still. Now I walk, dog at my side and negotiate the pitch of the hill Tomorrow’s promise may bear fruit and Time in or time out, in God’s time all shall be well. It is my prayer to walk In that timeless place And wonder.
I’ve been tied up with a heavier teaching load and some family matters, but still doing some scribbling when I get a few minutes. I have several pieces in the notebook that I hope to polish and get on these pages soon. I hope everyone is looking forward to the longer days and a break in the cold weather!
